In Charlotte’s University City area, tucked around a dedicated onramp to WT Harris Boulevard, is one of several Boston Market locations in Charlotte proper. Pictured above: Regular-sized turkey individual meal, with mixed vegetables, stuffing, and cornbread. No gravy.
Unfortunately, BoMa hasn’t figured out how to keep its turkey from drying without a gravy bath — a difficult problem, for sure! — but it still had enough flavor that I was willing to look past it and simply enjoy some better-than-standard fast food. However, BosMark’s biggest letdown for seven years running bit me in the ass once again: dry carrots. I don’t understand how they end up with dry carrots when everything else in the mixed vegetable bowl is neither overcooked nor undercooked and has plenty of moisture. It’s inexplicable.
That B-to-the-M has stumbled upon a way to magically keep one element of a dish dry while everything else is well-hydrated should represent a major leap in our understanding of chemistry, but most likely will go to waste given that, as noted above, this has been a problem for at least seven years and no one’s done anything about it.
Completely Subjective Score: 3.9/10
