Chicken, Lime & Tortilla Soup
Food-blog thing that kills me every time: Taking pictures of dishes from a straight-down perspective. It’s not “wrong”, except… The convention doesn’t fit the medium, to my eye.
Nobody looks at her food from that angle. Not when serving. Not when eating. Not when simply contemplating.
It’s a visual grammar issue and makes me cringe on the inside the same way I do when I hear someone say things such as, “That depends on what Bob and me want.”
In the end, I know what you mean, and I’d be a jerk if I pointed it out every time, but this photographic style calls extra attention to the artificiality of the dish depicted.
