This is actually a very important map, handwritten MS Paint notes and all. Remember the Urban Archipelago? There are many ways to apply that insight today — especially with modern campaigns’ ability to micro-target voters down to the individual level — that go beyond “just win big in the cities”.
It’s not just “cities” anymore. It’s neighborhoods. Pockets of people across a given state can network and motivate each other. The units of campaign contacts aren’t what they were four years ago, let alone twelve years ago.
