Satire it might be, but it reveals a lot of true problems the writer had with women, especially book being written for his daughters :/ It is so sad to know that. There are plenty of movies set in similar time periods that do not have this problem. If you think anyone who disagrees with you is an idiot, you must not learn very much from those around you. This whole book is a satire of love stories. It is sadly not as well conveyed in the movie. I find it went a bit too far, but placing it in historical context and the books context they make more sense.

Besides, in the book Buttercup has a role toward the end in saving them all and the 'I do' thing doesn't happen. When she says she's married (SPOILER), Westley answers that 'Widows happen everyday' (One of my favorite lines and a huge deception that it isn't in the movie).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1434854348220518992.post-42674787356645630372019-12-28T04:36:33.171-05:002019-12-28T04:36:33.171-05:00Me too! I watched the movie last ween and also...It is true. I watched the movie last ween and also noticed the very sexist scenes (specially before and during the swamp scenes right after they find each other again). The most funny thing for me is that the movie is named after a female character but she is very submissive? to the male characters. The same thing happen with many childhood classics (I´m, 38, spanish and a male) as crocodile dundee. We come from a very patriarcal society. But we cannot do anything to change the princess bride after 30 years... and still I think is a great movie, specially for the Iñigo Montoya and Andre the Giant duo. Think that a current director would not make the movie that sexist in 2019, who knows, the may make a fari gender remake someday. Best wishes. lullaby.robot@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09055816797793255943noreply@blogger.com
